Inspired by Mormon Expression’s recent podcast on Christmas music, I’m sharing some of my favorites. In no particular order, here we go…

Campanas de Belén

One of my favorite roommates at BYU had to sing this song with a group of Spanish classes, and convinced me to go with her to the practices. I ended up really liking the song.

Christmas Don’t Be Late

This song takes me back. It reminds me of being five years old, wrapping presents in my grandma’s living room while listening to the Chipmunks record on the ginorm Hi-Fi. My grandpa used to dress up like Santa. We’d sled in the backyard, act out the Nativity, drink hot cocoa, sing carols… it was sort of ridiculously bucolic.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

I was more of a Backstreet Boys kind of girl, but this is a sweet Christmas jam.

The Hallelujah Chorus

Perfection.

Los peces en el rio

I loooove this song, especially sung by my homegirls Pandora. An honorable mention to the RBD version.

Let it Snow

I may not always agree with the sentiments of the song, but it’s a catchy classic.

Heinillä Härkien Kaukalon

I think this Finnish carol is gorgeous. I’ve no idea what it means, because keen as I am to connect with my Finnish heritage, I’ve no intention of learning the language. (I’ve tried. It’s hard.) It’s pretty though, right?

Merry Christmas, everybody!
